The coffee beans produced in the high latitudes of Costa Rica are famous in the world. They are rich, mild in taste, but extremely sour. The coffee beans here are carefully processed. That's why we have high quality coffee. Tarazu is located in the south of San Jose, Costa Rica's capital. It is one of the country's most valued coffee growers and one of the world's major coffee producers.
After nearly 300 years of cultivation tradition, Costa Rica coffee has formed a complete coffee ecological chain and industrial chain. Coffee is an important source of income for Costa Rica, with 1/3 of Costa Rica's population invested in coffee-related industries. The Costa Rican coffee industry is one of the best-organized in the world, with an output of up to 1700kg per hectare. Costa Rica's coffee beans are washed with water. It has a bright style, full of aroma, clear as a wind chime swaying in the breeze, mild acidity and good sweetness. Because of the sweetness, even if the coffee gets cold, it is very delicious, which is a major feature of Costa Rican coffee. Therefore, it is recommended that you taste Costa Rican coffee with only a small amount of sugar and creamer, so as to enjoy its girlish and pure flavor.
Costa Rica also has a winning magic weapon-the honey treatment method. Today, honey treatment is used in almost all the producing areas of Costa Rica.
What is the honey treatment? Remove the peel and pulp of the coffee fruit, retain the pectin substance (mucilage) outside the coffee beans, and then put the coffee beans with pectin in the sun bed and cement terrace to dry. Because the pectin substance part is more sticky, and its sugar content is higher, in the process of processing pectin like honey wrapped coffee beans, so people vividly call this layer of coffee pectin as "honey", the whole process is called "honey processing 」.
Honey treatment is divided into white honey, yellow honey, red honey and black honey according to the content of pectin substances. Yellow honey contains 30% pectin, red honey contains 80%-100 pectin, black honey retains almost 100 pectin, and white honey hardly retains pectin. In particular, it should be noted that as the coffee drying process is limited by the influence of climate change, the local coffee farmers will finally verify that the classification of honey treatment will be based on the color of beans, for example, if the surface color is black, it will be black honey, and if it is red, it will be red honey.
